Small but resilient
We partner with producers that:
- are small-sized
- are spatially dispersed across Eastern Sicily
- if farmers, they harvest at the peak of ripeness, for the best flavor and nutrition, and use no spray growing practices
- if makers, they do not use chemical additives, and mindfully source their ingredients, avoiding GMOs, and take advantage whenever possible of local or seasonal ingredients.
What do we mean by "small scale producers"?
We mean producers who are not structurally dependent on permanent hired labour and who manage their production activity mainly with a family workforce. Most working time is spent on agricultural/artisanal activities on their own farms or in their own homes. This revenue represents the major part of their total income.
